Jeff and the sox

We had tried everything. First I had tried pinning pairs of sox together; the pins managed to work their way into the sox so that they were nearly impossible to get apart again. Then I tried those little wheels that you poke the sox through, but they stretched the sox out. Then, tying them in loose knots, which promptly tightened in the wash. I was at my wits' end. How, with two adults and five kids, could I keep those sox in pairs? It seemed that with every wash, we had to sacrifice at least one sock to the demon god of the underwear. Then (duh!) I thought of lingerie bags. Each person would receive a zippered bag that he or she was responsible for loading up with matching sox, and after the wash and dry -- voila! Matching pairs of sox! Smugly pleased, I informed Jeff, who replied, "Does this mean we're practicing safe sox?"
